Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15, 1961) was an American actress. Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress. Bassett was raised in New York New York and raised by an aunt living in Winston-Salem North Carolina. As Bassett was around five, she and her sister were moved into St. Petersburg, Florida to live with their mother who had separated from their father. Bassett chose to become an actress after she saw the stage play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. Following her graduation of Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with an undergraduate degree in African American Studies, she was able to obtain a Master's Degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. The couple got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. In African-American Studies, the year 1980. Graduate of Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama School.
